Dear Members,
Welcome to our Spring newsletter. I hope you are all well and have managed to get through the very cold and damp winter. We look forward to new shoots and buds as we visit various gardens in the coming months. Our winter lectures have been a blessing, and we have welcomed up to 50 members and visitors to these.
We have lots of events to offer and we still have two Spring lunches at the Inn at South Stainley, which are well attended; please come along and try it if you have not managed to do so yet.
We still have a few places on our Northumberland holiday in June. If you would like to come – just book, and look forward to boarding the coach and relaxing. Everything else will be done for you.
Please support our annual quiz night. St Wilfrid’s is a good venue, and the quiz is our main fundraiser, so your support would be appreciated. We hold a large raffle at this event so any donations would be gratefully received.
In May, we are going to RHS Bridgewater gardens. We went four years ago, when it first opened, and now there is such a difference as everything has matured. The coach will pick up at Ripon, Harrogate and Knaresborough, and it should be another great day out. Look out also in the months to come, for the other local garden visits, which always prove popular.
Please come along to our AGM at the end of March, where you can have your say about our amazing group. Justin Scully, General Manager at Fountains and Brimham Rocks, will be talking about his time helping at the other Yorkshire sites of the National Trust.
In the meantime, keep well and enjoy the warmer weather(?) and the lighter nights, and please do not hesitate to contact me if you need to talk. Allan is now back into the job of Membership Secretary so he will be available also – Praise God!
