Those of us who went to Greencroft Gardens could not help but be amazed at the size and scope of the gardens. Having enjoyed “the garden” we then found there was another part around the corner – and then another – and then another. Long herbaceous borders packed full of colour from late summer perennials, high hedges, walls, a pond/lake and hidden summer houses all contributed to a wealth to explore. It was maintained by the owners – an elderly couple who had bought a large “field” , some 40 years ago and set about creating this wonderful space. They showed us the
original photograph, which bore no resemblance to what we could see today.
All this, plus wonderful home-made cakes, made it an afternoon not to forget.
