24th April 2026 – The Old Vicarage, Whixley

The house and garden’s owner, Mrs Marshall, met us and gave us a brief introduction to the garden, along with the several changes which had taken place over its last 200 years. The house itself had been the vicarage and also later extended to form a school.

The road to the Hall next door had been moved to allow for a more contained garden for the vicarage.  However, the old Yew tree had been the only thing growing there, apart from grass, when they took on the garden in early 1990s but is now transformed.

After being allowed to view the gardens at our own pace, there were cups of tea and home-made cakes to enjoy!

Whixley Old Vicarage will be open in 2026 on 7th June and 26th July as part of the National Gardens Scheme.
