On a showery 7th August, about 12 of us enjoyed a visit to Jervaulx Hall Gardens, near East Witton. They are open just twice a year under the National Gardens Scheme because, as the owners said, they enjoy their holidays! We made our own way there and I think most of us avoided getting too wet.
The eight-acre garden, adjacent to the remains of Jervaulx Abbey, has been developed over the last seven years. There are large areas of established woodland trees and plenty of new shrubs including a collection of modern sculptures. Our visit was completed by the wonderful refreshments on sale.
I’ll look forward to future visits to see even more changes. It is amazing what has been done there over the last 7 years.
